On Friday, March 25 Tiffany took Erik to get his hair cut. They had a fun afternoon together (as you will see) and Erik was very pleased about the experience.
Here he stands outside of the hair salon where all the kids (and Nick) get their haircuts.
Looking good... I think he is enjoying this!
Finished? Not quite...
Erik's reward for sitting still and being so good was to pick a sucker!
But then... as he chose his sucker, he saw another boy with color in his hair and he understood why we asked him if he wanted his hair "colored." He was very excited with this new idea and quickly went back to his chair.
It is a temporary hair color that comes in many different colors. While they did not have his first choice ("yellow"), they did have his second...
NOW we're finished!
From there Tiffany took Erik to Silver Lake Park near downtown Rochester to feed the geese. In 1962, a visiting biologist discovered that the flock of geese wintering in the heart of Rochester, Minnesota was composed of members of a giant subspecies of the Canada goose long believed extinct. They stayed in Rochester for the winter because the power plant exhausted warm water into the lake and the Zumbro River which kept Silver Lake from freezing - even through the harsh Minnesota winters. While only numbering in the hundreds back then and very near extinction, they have made a huge recovery and now number over half a million, and now is the source of much controversy.
They took some old bread to share with the geese, which are very friendly and will eat right out of your hand at times.
A local farmer brought some corn for the flock to eat. Notice there are some ducks in with them too.
When Tiffany & Erik picked up Madeline from her dance class, this was her reaction to seeing Erik's green hair:
Followed by this look because she has been asking for color in her hair for a long time! Maybe someday soon, sweet Madeline.
When they arrived home, it was Remington's turn.
Finally, Katherine & Harrison. While Harrison was busy running through the house, the kids all gathered around to admire Erik's hair and to hear about his day.
