It was finally Erik's 10th birthday! We thought that Erik would be the first up but it was Harrison who was up at the crack of dawn. Harrison walked around the table and assessed all of the gifts and decorations. (notice that a smiley face balloon was strategically placed on his chair!)
Gifts from France were among the first presents Erik would see in the morning.
A special letter from Remi was taped onto Erik's birthday throne.
We all snuck downstairs to wake up Erik. He was surprised to find a large golden #3 ballon hanging in from of his door. Why? Because in addition to being Erik's 10th birthday it was also a celebration of Erik's third month in the United States! The children and I wrote special notes to Erik listing everything we enjoyed about him.
The first birthday hug of the morning came from Harrison.
Erik was ecstatic about all the birthday presents strewn about the table.
"Hmmmm....Which one should I open first!"
Discovering Remi's letter.
The cards from family and friends was touching.
Just ... so ... happy!
And then he discovered his FAVORITE candies!
A special gift from Harrison ... foam swords to battle!
A very cool bow and arrow with howling arrows.
Clothes from France
Erik is learning a lot about being a big brother. He invited Harrison to help him open his gifts.
Yellow bike helmet for our summer bike rides!
After the family birthday gifts and breakfast it was time for another surprise. We invited 13 boys to attend Erik's birthday party at Bowlocity for bowling, laser tag, arcades and birthday treats!
At 2:25 all the boys threw on their party hats, grabbed their whistles and celebrated the exact time of Erik's birth!!!!
Erik is not quite sure what is going on. The boys are all excited to enter into this dark room. I think Erik was a little nervous.
With vests on the boys became acquainted with their mission.
They split into two laser tag teams. Here is the Red Team.
Erik was the leader of the blue team!
All the laser tags were feed into the computer and displayed on the television outside. Red team dominated but everyone had a blast!
After laser tag it was time for some arcade fun.
Erik was pretty good and the stuffed animal crane game!
Some games produced tickets that could be exchanged for toys.
Time to sing happy birthday, eat cupckaes and open presents yet again!
After the birthday party we had two hours to relax before heading over Madeline and Remington's Spring piano recital.
And a third birthday celebration was at Nana and Grandpa's house! Erik was crowned the birthday king and the children enjoyed making sundaes and the sandae bar.
We ended the day at 9:30 p.m. and everyone was happy and exhausted. Heading off to bed Erik said "Mom, why can't everyday be my birthday!?" Erik's 10th birthday was a smashing success and hopefully one he will never forget!
