Once again, Katherine is leaving us... for six weeks in France!!
She left today from Rochester for Lyon, to see Manon and her wonderful family!
Here she is on our doorstep with her brother's French flag.
Saying "bon voyage" at Nana & Grandpa's house before leaving for the airport.
Dad was the lucky one to take her to the plane!
About to begin boarding. Katherine gets to go first!
But then, what happened??
To summarize, the aft cargo door was shut and sealed but the cockpit had a light that showed it was OPEN, so the pilots refused to move the plane. They wanted maintenance to look at it, but it was Sunday afternoon and there were no maintenance personnel at the airport. It was decided to pull all the luggage and passengers off the plane and send them on a bus up to the Minneapolis Airport. As Katherine was traveling as an unaccompanied minor, however, that would not do. So I spoke with Delta on the phone and at the airport desk and within about an hour, the plane was fixed and ready to fly, and...
Katherine was the ONLY PERSON on the flight!
There she goes (at last). She'll have to catch a later flight to Europe, but overall things worked out well! Have a great time, Katherine! We love you!!
